At COP30, Global Carbon Council Signs Strategic Agreement with ABEEólica to Accelerate Brazil’s High-Integrity Carbon Market Framework

The Global Carbon Council (GCC) and Brazil’s Associação Brasileira de Energia Eólica e Novas Tecnologias (ABEEólica) signed a strategic MoU at COP30 in Belém to advance Brazil’s carbon market and strengthen its readiness for Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement. Signed by Dr. Yousef Alhorr and Mr. Juliano Martins on behalf of CEO Elbia Gannoum, the partnership focuses on capacity building, integrating GCC within Brazil’s domestic carbon credit system (CVREs) and Article 6.2 ITMOs, policy advocacy for GCC’s Carbon Market Infrastructure, and engagement with national stakeholders. The agreement underscores Brazil’s leadership in renewable energy and aims to build a transparent, high-integrity, internationally aligned carbon market.
