Global Carbon Council (GCC) and the Indian Sugar and Bio-energy Manufacturers Association (ISMA) signed an MoU at COP30 in Belém, Brazil, to strengthen India’s engagement in carbon markets. Signed by Dr. Yousef Alhorr and Mr. Gautam Goel, the partnership focuses on capacity-building, joint training, methodology development, and advocacy for recognition of GCC standards—particularly for CBG, green hydrogen, and other bio-energy projects. It also aims to facilitate GCC credit recognition under India’s Carbon Credit Trading Scheme and support Host Country Letters of Authorization. Effective from 19 November 2025 for two years, the MoU will enhance India’s sugar-bioenergy sector participation in voluntary and Article 6.2 carbon markets.
